I've not applied for anything yet

Don’t worry, it’s not too late! Take a look at the Adult and Part-time courses we have to offer and apply online.

I've applied and got an offer, how will I enrol?

Enrolment starts mid-August and runs up to the beginning of September. 

We will contact you via email with specific details for your course. For more information, you can contact our Admissions Team on 01226 216 106 or email interviews@barnsley.ac.uk

When will I enrol and what happens?

We will send you an email with your date and time to enrol (enrolment starts mid-August). 

You will meet the tutor and discuss the course/career plans*

Please bring any certificates for proof of your qualifications (where applicable). 

You will be required to provide ID at enrolment. Photographic ID is preferred, but we accept the following:

• Passport
• Driving licence
• ID card or other form of national ID
• National Insurance card
• Certificate of entitlement to funding
• Bank/credit/debit card

You will log into your OnTrack account and check your details and accept the enrolment.

We will take your photograph and issue you with your student ID card.

You will be given details about your induction and when to start. 

Do I need to bring any ID when I enrol?

Yes, you will be required to provide ID at enrolment. Photographic ID is preferred, but we accept the following:

Do I have to pay for my course?

Information can be found on the paying for your course page.

How do I know which campus to enrol at?

Your enrolment invite will state which campus to enrol at. Visit our Campuses page to familiarise yourself with the locations. 

Some courses also enrol online - we will provide infomation on how to do this. 

I will be on holiday when it is enrolment, what can I do?

Please contact our Admissions Team via email: interviews@barnsley.ac.uk or telephone: 01226 216 106 who will inform the subject area and suggest an alternative date.

Will I get any financial support?

There are a number of different financial support schemes on offer for students studying at Barnsley College. These can help to cover some travel costs, study programme essentials, and a contribution towards food allowance and childcare support. Please be aware that students are not automatically entitled to funding, an application form and proof of household income should be submitted for assessment.

When are the term dates?

Most part-time courses will start week commencing Tuesday 1 September 2026. Your tutor will provide all the details about your induction and timetable when you enrol.

Need an English or Maths qualification to progress?

We offer both Functional Skills and GCSE level qualifications and you will sit an assessment before enrolling so we know which level is best for you.

Functional Skills courses are FREE for anyone aged 19 or over who lives in South Yorkshire.

GCSE courses are FREE for anyone aged 19 or over, who lives in South Yorkshire and doesn’t already hold a grade C/4 in the subject.

Whatever your starting point, we have courses (many of which are FREE!) to increase your all-round digital skills, or to develop your knowledge in specific areas.
